Food Pantry

Our parishioners support Catholic Charities Food Pantry – Montgomery County.

  • through food donations; receptacles are at each of the Church entrances.
    Food items that are needed include:
    • peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, pasta sauce,
    • canned meats, soups, fruits and vegetables,
    • 100% juices, coffee
    • crackers, flavored rice, cereals,
    • baking goods: sugar and flour,
    • baby food.
    • Personal hygiene products: deodorant, toothpaste, bandages and diapers (all sizes)
  • and through cash donations.
    For every dollar donated the Food Pantry can purchase $10.00 of food.

Monthly updates of cash and food donations are made in the parish bulletin. The parish takes up a special collection of food donations on Thanksgiving Day during the Eucharist.

The Catholic Charities Food Pantry…

  • …provides its services to people of Amsterdam who must be pre-approved, low income workers, singles, families or senior citizens. Seniors must have proof of income for supplemental help.
  • …Emergency Services are available.
  • …is located at 1 Kimball Street, Amsterdam, New York
    (the former Saint Joseph’s school and convent.)
  • Hours of operation:
    • Wednesday: 2:00 – 3:30 pm for senior citizens
    • Thursday: 2:30 – 5:00pm for low income workers and needy families.
